Last week’s event has set new records for wine shows in Hong Kong.

It can be said that the HKTDC knows how to put on a show, and the conclusion on Friday night of the 2009 Hong Kong Wine and Spirts Fair was no exception.

Over 520 exhibitors were counted from 34 countries and over 12,000 attendees (a 36% increase over last year’s debut fair) from all over the world were at the fair.

Besides huge booths for the biggest wine producing countries we saw abalone pairings, Hello Kitty wine, packed sake booths, giant magnums being sold off in the last hours of the fair, wine from Thailand and India (who knew), invitation to many new wine bars and restaurants and a general happy feeling that the wine market in Hong Kong is definitely growing at an unbelievable size.

The Fair was so successful that the HKTDC have already booked Australia as the partner country for the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair 2010 next year.

And to wind it all up here is our photo gallery of sights and deals that went down on the final day of the Fair last Friday. Yes, we’re still recovering! We hope that Winebuzz.hk can help guide you through all of the choices over the coming months.
