<p><strong>About Domain de Chevalier </strong></p>
<p>Domaine de Chevalier is located in Leognan, the capital town of the Graves region. It is ranked among the Grand Crus Classé in the Classification of Graves wine of 1953 and 1959.</p>
<p>The red Domaine de Chevalier, the flagship of the Pessac-Leognan appellation, belongs to the elite of the great-classified growths of Bordeaux. In 1983, the estate was purchased by the Bernard family, No. 1 in France on the spirits market and a major negociant of premium Bordeaux wines.  It has been run by Olivier Bernard ever since.</p>
<p><em><strong>Château Guiraud</strong></em> is a Sauternes Grand Cru Classé sweet white wine in the 1855 classification which has just obtained organic farming certification. It is the first and the only one of the Premiers Grands Crus Classés in the 1855 Bordeaux classification to obtain such certification.</p>

<p>Winebuzz attended a lavish dinner recently to help launch the new Flavours Asia App, a food and wine pairing app at <strong>Island Tang</strong>. <p>The App started as a food and wine pairing book which turned into an iPad App. Titled &#8220;The Flavours of Asia&#8221; for Moet Hennessy Estate &amp; Wines, the app features wine pairing with typical food from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines.</p>
<p>Contributors of the book include famous food and wine critics, chefs, food editors and restauranteur from all over Asia including <strong>Dai Ai Qun, Lau Chi Sun,  William Wongso</strong> and others. We think it is an excellent addition to any food and wine lovers!</p>

<p>Besides their famous Sauvignon Blanc wine, Cloudy Bay also makes Pinot Gris, Chardonay and Reisling wines. We were introduced to a delicious 2009 Cloudy Bay Chardonnay and we were very pleasantly surprised. Other wines served included Chandon Brut Terrazas Reserva Malbec and Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon.</p>

<p>If you ever needed a better reason to indulge in great wine and food, raising funds for <strong>Hong Kong Breast Cancer</strong> would be it! On Friday, 14 October, a special ‘pink tie’ Gala Winemaker Dinner is being held where female winemakers will inspire guests with their stories and wines in a specially paired ten wine, six course fusion dinner.</p>
<p><span id="more-23540"></span></p>
<p>This is the third anniversary for the fundraising event where female wine merchant Ms.<strong> Ada Leung</strong> of <strong>Cottage Vineyards</strong> and<strong> LRC</strong> member and avid Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation supporter <strong>Mrs. Margaret Oehmke</strong>, will join forces once again to bring over 90 guests pink jeroboams and wine divas from around the world in an effort to raise awareness and funds for this October&#8217;s Breast Cancer Awareness month.</p>

<p>The specially made three litre jeroboams will be presented by guest speaker and female winemaker <strong>Mrs. Valérie Riboud-Rousselle </strong>of<strong> Château Roubine Provence Cru Class.</strong> Although Valerie will be the diva winemaker in residence for the evening, she will be representing eight other female winemakers whose wines will be specially paired to the fusion cuisine designed by LRC Executive Chef <strong>Sammy So</strong> and LRC F&amp;B Manager Mr. <strong>Michael Soong</strong>.</p>
<p>This is a delicious occasion to &#8220;think pink&#8221;!</p>

<p>In celebration of the new edition to his No.1 selling book, <strong><em>The Australian Wine Companion</em></strong>, the world-renowned wine critic <strong>James Halliday</strong> will host a tasting of some of Australia&#8217;s finest wines including a gala dinner of who’s who on the Oz wine scene.</p>

<p>James Halliday is perhaps <em>the </em>most respected voice in the Australian wine community who is not only a critic but is a winemaker himself with extensive experience as the founder of two highly regarded Australian wineries. He is without doubt a hands-on wine lover who loves every aspect of the wine-making process. James has written over 60 books and keeps a record of over 55,000 tasting notes. Aside from being a highly regarded and prolific wine maker, commentator and critic, he&#8217;s also known for his personality that shines through in his amusing and accessible writing.</p>
<p><strong>Tasting with James Halliday</strong></p>
<p>On Wednesday August 24<sup>th</sup>, James will host a tasting at The Hotel Icon in which he and a collection of Australia’s most respected winemakers will guide a special tasting through some of Australia’s finest wines, <em>all of them over 90+ points</em>. Tickets are HK$480 and you can also pick up a signed copy of his book at a special price.</p>

Priced at HK$1,888 per person, this is a great way to enjoy authentic Cantonese cuisine with G.H Mumm champagne.</p>
<p><strong>Tasting Menu</strong>:</p>

<li>Deep fried prawn serving with pan-fried foie gras and roasted suckling pig is paired with the fresh and elegant G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge.</li>

<p>Here&#8217;s a wine dinner that&#8217;s truly international. <strong>Finessa</strong>, a premium Swiss wine importer is hosting a wine dinner featuring a Chinese set menu paired with four of their finest Swiss wines and Spanish Cavas.  </p>
<p><span id="more-21906"></span>Jardine&#8217;s Kitchen located at the Jardine Lookout Club has prepared a delicious menu consisting of traditional Chinese cuisine &#8211; jellyfish salad, baked chicken in rock salt, stuffed crab shell, braised pork ribs and mango pudding, <a href="http://www.winebuzz.hk/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/SwissDinner.pdf">click here for full menu</a>. Wines are paired with dishes and fine Swiss chocolate from Francesca.</p>
