Erich Kuss of the US Agricultural Office Talks Importing US Wine to Asia

US wine quality is high, but education is low in Hong Kong.

We turned our HOFEX 2011 booth into a Winebuzz TV studio and invited the movers and shakers in the Hong Kong wine scene to talk about how they see the current status of wine culture in Hong Kong and what the future looks like.

Erich Kuss, the director of Agricultural Trade Office for the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong discusses how the US Consulate helps US wines enter the HK and China markets. The main states that produce wine are of course California but Oregon and Washington round out the top 3. Erich tells us that competition is fierce but the quality of US wines can compete with the best of Europe but that education is low and something that his office is working on.
