Obsessed with all things Sicilian, I was treated to a dinner at Messina last week.  The chef’s menu offered a 4-course dinner with wine pairing, and I must say that the food was great but the wine pairing not as great.  There were snippets of brilliance during the dinner that I would like to share.

Acker Merrall & Condit’s last auction of the year fetched world record prices for Italian wines and put them in the lead for 2012 as the leading auction house in Hong Kong.

Top lots sold was an exclusive DRC assortment vertical collection of 8 vintags which fetched HK$2,755,200 million. What was more interesting about the auction was the world record prices established for 16 Italian wines.

Disovering Italian Wine and Cassatella di Sant’Agata at the 4th Annual Wine and Dine Festival

Eugenia Yiu discovers the joys of a Sicilian white and a cake inspired by a saint at the Italian Pavilion.

For those who had the time to visit the 4th Annual Wine and Dine Festival, the place was jam-packed with people and a periphery of chaos. Luckily everybody was courteous, and I did not experience any pushing as I had feared.  Since the lack of space was not an ideal atmosphere for wine tasting, I had set my mind up for a night of fun with my family, and hopefully get a slight buzz while I am at it.
