It’s onwards and upwards for wines in 2010.

After carefully watching wine market trends for the last several years, Bloomberg has made a few predictions on the buying and selling trends we might see in 2010. Can investors look forward to a banner year for spirit sales?
Bloomberg is predicting that wine prices will continue to drop, both in high-end and low-end markets. The news source seems to think that more online buyers will start to make wine purchases, pointing to rising sites like Wine-searcher.com, Vinfolio.com and Bordeaux Provenance as key examples of this growing trend. Another online trend Bloomberg expects is wine blogs, where discussion on everything about buying, drinking and selling wine is open for all.
Other predictions are pretty easy to make. The fact that more consumers will start to buy cheaper wines is a given as much of the world is still in an economic crunch. But it’s also true that 2009 exceeded many expectations in the wine market, with Hong Kong leading the way.

The future of guaranteeing online wine buying is here.
Want to make sure the fine bottle of wine you purchase online is authentic, with just the right provenance? Thanks to a new online service for Internet buyers, you can now trace the bottles you buy. Every bottle you purchase through Bordeaux Provenance is guaranteed to arrive to you in the best condition.
The wines are all stored in the Bordeaux Winebank after they’re bottled, a building that’s outfitted with computer-operated surveillance. Radio frequency identification makes it possible to trace each and every bottle. This technology also monitors temperature and humidity to keep your bottle in perfect condition.
Thanks to the Bordeaux Winebank technology, you’ll know everything about your bottle of wine – where and how it’s stored, when it’s moved and so on. Often, these details don’t come with wine purchases, so you never know what you’re getting until you pull the cork.
We’re interested in these new technologies because they will influence the prices for wine in the future, the way they are kept today. With this type of special care, you can imagine that older wines will last longer and new wines that go into this type of system will allow newer vintages to be more available to future wine drinkers.
