The best dining experiences are all about treating your senses, right? Well, if this is what you believe then you’ll want to check out Alchemy, the latest dining hot spot set in the heart of Hong Kong that caters to the adventurous diner.

The restaurant is divided into two sections. Upstairs is a relaxed and stylish bar setting where crafted cocktails as well as casual dining are served for lunch, dinner and weekend brunches. You can choose from a selection of small tapas-style dishes like crispy saffron risotto with smoked duck and balsamic rocket, marinated salmon with peppered macaroon, seaweed butter and calamari, roasted chicken and sea scallop with lotus crisp and XO sauce.

It is the downstairs that makes Alchemy unique. Here is where guests dine in the dark to completely focus the mind on taste and texture. This intimate setting only has 25 seats and as you arrive, you are personally greeted and guided to your table by Alchemy’s team of guides – visually impaired waiting staff – to experience the new style of dining that relies entirely on touch, smell, taste and hearing in a completely dark environment.

Alchemy’s menu will change regularly so that the experience is different with each visit. Take note that mobile phones are prohibited during the dining session so that you focus entirely on what you are about to experience. Also, before your dining experience begins, the team will ask whether you have any allergies or dislikes so that Alchemy’s chef, Chef Pascal, can prepare a three-course meal specially for you. In fact, you won’t even know what you’ve dined on until the end of the meal when the team will explain each dish in detail.

The three-course menu here is priced at HK$500 per head with the option of wine pairing at HK$700 per head.
