Françoise Bedel: The Belle Biodynamic Champagne

New release from famed champagne producer.

Françoise Bedel is one of the stars of the Champagne biodynamic movement. Based in Crouttes-sur-marne (Champagne’s most famous region), this grower champagne producer is an important figure in the region and has the goal of making well-balanced, high quality and harmonious wines. Using traditional methods only, the wines rely heavily on Pinot Meunier, which is quite rare compared to the outside world.

Winebuzz attended a lavish dinner recently to help launch the new Flavours Asia App, a food and wine pairing app at Island Tang. We were treated to a 7 course meal with matching wines from the Moet Hennessy stable of estates including Cloudy Bay, Chandon, Cape Mentelle and Terrazas.

A look inside Debra’s new book on the HK wine market.

Debra Meiburg, arguably Hong Kong’s most famous Master of Wine; with wine classes, TV shows, YouTube channels, wine competition judging – she can now add “book author” to her amazing list of acheivements!

We posted about Debra Meiburg’s Guide to the Hong Kong Wine Trade here before, and we attended the launch event at the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair last month where the book was finally available for ordering.

We are currently reviewing our copy and will bring you a full review soon – but her presentation at the HKIWSF peaked every attendee’s interest so much that there was an overwhelming stampede to get a copy (or 2) of the book.

So we asked Ms. Meiburg, if we could post the slides here so that we can show off more about the contents of the book – and she agreed. So below you will see some of the top line information that is presented in her book – myths about the Hong Kong wine industry:

Zachys’ Record Breaking Finish To 2011

Auction house has last auction of record breaking year.

2011 has been a great year for auction house Zachys. They celebrated their most successful record breaking year with an evening auction and evening dinner at The Mandarin Oriental on Friday 18 November and a full auction session on Saturday 19 November.
