Participate in the tasting of the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition from 12th-14th October.

The Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition is an annual wine judging competition held yearly by expert judges from all over Asia during the Hong Kong Wine & Spirits Fair in November.
This year, they’re extending the tasting to the wine-loving public. From 12th-14th October, you can purchase tickets for a 1 day pass or 3 day pass to taste all of the wine submited to the competition.

Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

Most wine lovers are equally as besotted with food, and so Australia’s number 1 food and wine festival has to be the epic 17 day celebration in Melbourne.
For over two weeks in March, the city is awash with hundreds of thousands of visitors, some of Australia’s and the world’s finest chefs and, of course, plenty of great wine. Just over 200 individual events showcase some of the region’s wine and food with food demonstrations, masterclasses, tapas tours and tastings all over the city.

Acker Merrall & Condit’s Hong Kong auction sees some huge bids.

The recent Acker Merrall & Condit auction of fine wines and champagnes saw a shift in Asian drinking preferences and collector habits – with Burgundy wines taking the auction by storm. Of course, the Bordeaux did well too but it was a rare case of 1990 DRC Romanee-Conti that fetched a world record price of HK$2.31 million.

A new award to recognize the importance of house wine.

The house wine at any restaurant and bar is an important wine as it is usually the most consumed. To encourage and recognize the restaurant that has put in the effort to offer good house wine, the Restaurant & Bar Hong Kong has teamed up with the Hong Kong Wine Judges Association to find the best house wines available in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong House Wine Awards.

Hong Kong’s most indulgent wine tasting event.

At the recent ‘Indulgence Day” of tasting hosted by Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve and moderated by Susan Jung from SCMP, Winebuzz.hk was invited to the comparative tasting of six Château Cheval Blanc including the legendary 1967 and 1982 vintages, and two Petit Chevals.
