Wine auction focused on Barossa Wines.

Yes, it is yet another wine auction, but this time what’s going under the hammer is a little different from the usual multimillion dollar Bordeaux and Burgundies. The biennial 2011 Rare & Distinguished Barossa Wine Auction will take place on Friday, April 29th and will offer some 133 lots of wine including six litre Imperials of Penfolds Grange and Block 42, HenschkeHill of Grace, Torbreck RunRig, Chris Ringland Shiraz, and Rockford Basket Press Shiraz.

Hong Kong International Wine Challenge 2011: First Judging

HOFEX 2011 has begun with the HKIWC this past weekend.

Over the weekend of 2-3 April,  judging for the Hong Kong International Wine Challenge 2011 took place at L’Hotel in Tin Hau.

One of the main HOFEX’s wine and spirits events, the event is co-organized together with the Hong Kong Sommelier Association. Wine exhibitors submit their wines to be judged according to 7 categories of grape variety and 3 categories of Chinese cuisine and wine matching.   This year, the total number of entries received increased to 269.

Farnese Winery has a long and noble history dating back to 1585 when Princess Marguerite of Austria, daughter of an Emperor and wife to Prince Octavio Farnese retired in Ortona. On this beautiful Italian countryside, she built a palace and vineyards which produced wine that appeared on the banquet tables of many European courts.
