A BBQ feast on The Lawn.

The Perfect Auction.

For the first time in history, a single lot of 100 bottles of wine that have all received 100 points are going on auction. The organizers of this auction is the Naples (Florida) Winter Wine Festival. Dubbed the “Pefection Lot,” all of these wine scored 100/100 with Robert Parker.
Some of the stand-out bottles include a 1955 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion, a 1989 Chateau Petrus and a 1985 Domaine Romanee-Conti worth more than USD11,000.

Tips and insights on Italy’s sparkling success.

With total output reaching no less than 6 billion litres per year, Italy is a key player when it comes to national wine production. And, while Sangiovese grapes might be the star of its achievements, it’s the fruity Glera varietal, endemic to the Veneto region in the northeast, that’s been getting all the attention of late. A neutral breed with virtually no sourness, Glera is best known as the prime ingredient in Prosecco, the Mediterranean enclave’s answer to sparkling wine.

Hong Kong hosts Asia’s 2nd Biggest Wine auction.

Acker Merrall & Condit‘s “East Meets West” auction this weekend surpassed expectations by some 30 percent for final sales of over HK$68.1 million – the second-highest to date for an Asian wine auction.
The two-day event, held on the 17th and 18th at the Island Shangri-La and Grand Hyatt respectively, featured over 920 lots – all of which were sold – primarily to Asian and American collectors. Internet bidding was said to have been particularly robust.

Christie’s Hong Kong wine auction from the SK Network Collection achieves 100% sell-through rate.

Christie’s Hong Kong auction held on September 18th, 2010 raised HK$48.13 million and achieved a few record prices in the process. Considered the highest sale total for Christie’s Wine Sales in Hong Kong with 369 lots offered, there is no stopping Hong Kong from becoming the leading wine auction center of the world.
