Christie’s Liquid Gold Collection Hits HK$40.3 Million
Smashing all previous sales records.
Christie’s Spring Finest and Rarest Wine Auction held over the weekend, on 29 May, 2010 broke all previous sales records by the auction house. Achieving a total sales of HK$40.3 million, it is Christie’s largest wine auction to date in Hong Kong.
The most significant sale was Lot 356 which consisted of 128 bottles and 40 magnums of Château d’Yquem that span three centuries, the largest collection of Château d’Yquem ever to come to auction. The lot sold to a European buyer for just over HK$8 million, making this the most valuable wine lot ever sold globally by Christie’s, and is the world auction record for Château d’Yquem- David Elswood, International Head of Wine for Christies.
