Lot 356-Château d’Yquem
Christie’s Spring Finest and Rarest Wine Auction held over the weekend, on 29 May, 2010 broke all previous sales records by the auction house. Achieving a total sales of HK$40.3 million, it is Christie’s largest wine auction to date in Hong Kong.

Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2010 has come to a close and it’s been a great success in bringing a sophisticated world class level of wine trade to Hong Kong.
We were able to taste so many new and interesting wines that we did not have the chance to before, and the general professionalism of all the exhibitors to the attendees was fantastic!

The wine industry’s big trade fair is a huge success.
The 3-day Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2010 trade show happening in Hong Kong right now (last day is today) is an amazing juggernaut of a wine fair.
With over 700 exhibitors representing 32 countries from France to Argentina to Germany to Korea and beyond, this fair is cementing Hong Kong as a major wine hub especially for Asia. If you’re a wine lover, you need to be at this show.

This week’s Vinexpo in Hong Kong is bringing the world’s biggest and most innovative wine makers to town. And we got a rare chance to sit down with the founder of one of the companies that is changing the way we buy Bordeaux wine: Mr. Henning Thoresen, founder of Bordeaux Provenance.
Our talk with Mr. Thoresen delves into the strategy and essence of new business in selling certified Bordeaux wine online direct from France to anywhere in the world.
Where did the idea of creating a certified Bordeaux wine company come from?
Customers are cheated every day around the world when buying fine Bordeaux wine because producers in Bordeaux have no exclusive distribution channels. The wines are sold by various merchants and because there is no exclusivity, the international price competition puts pressure on companies to try and save on transport and storage.
Wines sold by retailers and by auction houses can have changed ownership many times and this information is not disclosed to the buyer, This is a situation we intend to rectify.
The world’s wine industry uncorks today in Hong Kong.
After its resounding success in 2008, Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2010 returns starting today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai today, and runs until Thursday.

Sotheby’s recent wine auction of Chateau Cheval Blanc, Chateau d’Yquem and Dom Pérignon sold out 100% of its wine lots and achieved a few new record breaking prices.
