A new 4-hour wine course to get beginner’s up to speed.

The Independent Wine Centre (IWC), a Hong Kong based wine consultancy and eduction centre, is hosting two fabulous wine tasting courses in August on the 19th and 26th.
The prerequisite: a passion for wine. The purpose: refine your senses.
Hong Kong born Simon Tam established the IWC and is one of Greater China’s premier wine education centres. If you are wanting to brush up on your wine knowledge, or have something to show off at your next dinner party, IWC courses are a great place to start.

- Length: The four hour course gives you a foundation for wine tasting and teaches you to identify the origins of some common wine tastes and styles.

Fine + Rare Wines, UK wine broker has opened their first office in the Far East. Following in the footsteps of other UK wine brokers like Farr Vintners and Berry Brothers & Rudd, it seems that Hong Kong offices are a definite necessity these days if you are dealing wine. Not surprising really, with record breaking auction results being recorded from Hong Kong wine investors, this is the hottest place to be right now.

Winemaker dinner showcases the feminine touch for charity.

Following the preview “Wine Divas” tasting at Café Landmark attended by over 60 participants in July, Cottage Vineyards will join forces with the LRC to hold a “Pink Tie” Wine Divas Gala Dinner on Tuesday, September 29th, 2009, as the culmination event in the “Wine Divas” programme to raise funds for the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.
Priced at HK$888.00 per person, the “Pink Tie” Wine Divas Gala dinner, features a specially designed six-course dinner menu designed by LRC Executive Chef Sammy So and LRC F&B Manager Michael Soong pairing seven wines from seven female winemakers with an additional eighth wine served with canapés during the dinner reception.
Cottage Vineyards will also donate 20% of all wine sales generating from order forms of the event to the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.
