Wine Challenge event making a comeback at HOFEX on May 6-9, 2009.

Designed for HOFEX exhibitors, the Hong Kong International Wine Challenge is a 4-day show where wine from exhibitors will be announced. Wine will be judged by a panel of wine connoisseurs put together by The Hong Kong Sommelier Association to determined the Best of Show for each categories below.

Timeout’s Winewalk happening next week.

Time to get your drinking shoes on!
Get your tickets for Winewalk now. Timeout is putting together this event for the 2nd time after the success of last year’s event. How does it works? When you get your ticket, a wine glass will be given to you, take this glass round all the participating bars and restaurants and enjoy a free flow of wine. Each restaurant will lay out finger food for participants to enjoy so you don’t drink on an empty stomach.
All proceeds goes to charity. This year’s proceed with go to Camp Quality, an organization that supports children with cancer and Room to Read, a charity that builds children’s libraries in developing countries.
Go on, take the time out to enjoy the walk this April 18.

Wine classes for beginners.

For many beginner wine drinkers, buying a bottle of wine can be a daunting task, it is easy to feel overwhelm by the range of varietals, blend, prices, country of origin and vintage.
Fortunately, there is now a wide variety of wine appreciation courses available in Hong Kong for both the serious and curious wine aficionados. Some of the best courses in town are offered by Berry Bros &Rudd, the Hong Kong branch of the renowned London wine merchant. For beginners, there is a 3 hour ‘Introduction to Wine” course which introduces participants to wine styles, storage of wine and how to identify the characteristics of major grape varieties.

Moet & Chandon has a super-hot star in their advertising campaign.

Moet & Chandon has upped the stakes for getting noticed in the alcoholic beverage category by getting Scarlet Johannson on board as brand ambassador. Moet & Chandon is part of the LVMH group, the same group that has successfully made top high end luxury labels, brands like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior into successful and famous worldwide brands.
The campaign features a very glamorous looking Scarlett Johannsson. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot pictures of Scarlett in a series of smoldering hot poses. Its not hard to take a good picture of Scarlett but we have to hand it to these guys, Scarlett looks amazing!
